Door face camera
Most of retail, warehousing or manufacturing building cameras are placed 16 feet or higher due to high ceilings. A simple baseball cap covers the face of the “bad guy” beyond sight of view by any camera. We have seen a lot of footage where a thief walks through the store without a single good shot of his face because it is covered by a simple baseball cap. Over the years Procom has worked with the CPD and found the need to place cameras at lower level to capture the face of this person. Special vandal proof cameras with Wide Dynamic Range capabilities deal with this task very well. The camera has two focal points so bright light coming through the door is not blinding CCD and we still produce a clear face shot. Some of the DVRs have facial recognition software to utilize these kinds of pictures. This could be a very interesting future for banks, hotels and retail stores. Usually 720P HD cameras are sufficient to make perfect “passport photo” of every person walking to the building. Later from overhead cameras you can follow this person through the premises. Department of Homeland Security recommends this type of camera to be installed on every single CCTV installation. Cameras like that solves the problem of “the guy in the red jacket” without a face.
