Parking Garage
We are used to cameras on every corner and intersection in the city. Unfortunately most of them are only registering the color and sometimes the model of the car. Capturing license plate and drivers faces is beyond the capability of these cameras. Exceptions of course are “Red light” cameras but the main function of them is… you know. With the new megapixel IP HD cameras we can monitor parking lots and record high detail for fractions of the cost. License plate and drivers face recognition is not a problem as long as we can find a place to put a camera 40 ft away from entrance/exit.
Video signal from HD IP cameras can be easily sent over wireless mashed networks up to 1000 yards within the line of site. We prefer to use fiber optic on long distances like these, but it’s not always possible. We have many successful installations with hybrid solutions including fiber, wireless and cat 5 (Canadian Railroad Auto port in Chicago). The most challenging part is switching and storing tremendous amount of data when we’re using 10 Mega Pixel cameras to achieve large coverage area and High definition details.
Traditional IP and analog cameras are a waste of money in cases of large parking lots with details down to the license plate. Only good megapixel cameras with a solid Japanese lens can deliver results.
